Inventing Flight
You are invited to come to my city during this month for the Inventing Flight celebration. Dayton, Ohio USA is the birthplace of Orville and Wilbur Wright, who invented aviation here and took their invention to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for the first ever flight in 1903. Hence, this year is the centennial anniversary. Bring your wallet, too, as a lot of the events and activities are not free.
Presidential Visit
Also, you may have heard that President George W. Bush is coming to Dayton for the 4th of July. I have a great friend and sister in Christ who works for the local Republican party, and she managed to get two tickets for Keisha and I to see him tomorrow. I could do a whole blog post about this remarkable woman (I probably should).
Family Reunion
This Sunday my aunt and uncle in Cincinnati, Ohio USA have organized a reunion celebration of sorts. They have much to celebrate. First, this month they are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. I remember well the time of their wedding. I was 8 years old. Also, their oldest son just graduated from high school and is going into the military. Thirdly, they are adopting a 5 year old little girl. It will be encouraging to see how Keisha, who will be 6 on the 17th of July, will interact with her. Moreover, this will be the first time since 1994 that most of my mom's family has gotten together. Unfortunately, at that time, it was for her dad's (my grandfather's) funeral. It will be interesting, too, to see how everyone interacts. Our family puts the "D" in dysfunctional.
