Happy Anniversary to Us!

Thirteen years ago Jennie and I embarked on this wonderful adventure that is marriage. In some ways it feels like only yesterday; in others, it feels like quite a while. I love how time is elastic like that.

I haven't typically been one to give greeting cards, so I hope that she'll be impressed when she gets the one I'm giving her, even if it came from a card store. It reads:

Baby, when I think about us,
I can't help but love
what we've become.
Yes, those early days
of you and me were amazing.
But now, we've eased
into this deep, soulful groove...
the kind that fills in
all the missing beats
of a man's life
with what's real and true...

You're the rhythm to my rhyme --
smooth and steady
as a heartbeat.
You complete me, Baby.
And while I've loved
every stage of us,
I wouldn't give anything for this one --
the one where we
know each other by heart.

You're the woman who grooves me.
Always have. And, Baby...
you always will.

Happy Anniversary

I noticed that Ed from Ed's Mixed Bag played my request for Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am" on his latest show. Thanks, Ed!

Can you help me make my anniversary special?

Here's the situation - I need your help:

Married father of one 9-year old, seeking help (ideas, etc.) from other married men (and women) about how to make a wedding anniversary on June 17th special in order to make up for having blown it big time in previous years. $50 budget.
When it comes to mine and Jennie's wedding anniversary, I have not done a great job. This time around, Jennie's not expecting anything, and I'd like to actually do something special this year.

Leave your ideas in the comments.

Wedding Proposals

I love hearing how other couples got engaged, and I've shared how I proposed to Jennie back in 1994, but this is the first time I think I've ever seen it on a video blog.

I would love to hear how you got engaged and share it with other people. Feel free to send me an email to danimal0416 at gmail, call the voicemail number at (206) 666 - 5466 (JIMM), or record something and send it to me as an attached file via email.

Loving my wife

Mood: chilled
Listening to: Dave's Lounge #56 - The Natalie Walker Special
Reading: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5) (chapter 10 "Luna Lovegood")
Eating: Wendy's

Jennie seemed so different today. Out of sorts. Lethargic. I asked her this afternoon if she'd checked her blood sugar lately:

This evening I asked her what the reading was. She said it was above 400. Normal is less than 100. So she took some Amaryl. She took a nap before it was time for her to get up and get ready for work. When she got up it was under 200. She got ready for work and ate a salad for dinner.

I've got to be more on top of stuff like this.
