Types of Bras - JOKE ALERT!

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, "I'd like to buy a bra for my wife. "What type of bra?" asked the clerk. "Type?" inquires the man, "There's more than one type?"

"Look around," said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, colour and material imaginable. "Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from."

Relieved, the man asked about the types.

The saleslady replied "There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?

Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The Saleslady responded, "It is all really quite simple ...

  • The Catholic type supports the masses,
  • The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen,
  • The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, and
  • The Baptist makes mountains out of mole hills.

Hot Wings

Mood: hot, teary
Listening to: audio from a Deaf/Hard of Hearing conference we attended last weekend
Eating: Hot wings from Buffalo Wild Wings

Jennie brought home some Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. OMG! The flavors she brought home were

  • mango habanera
  • asian zing
  • spicy garlic
  • blazin'

When Jennie called to ask how hot I wanted the wings, I told her I was willing to go as hot as we could go, even to burning another hole. What I meant by that was that, if it's hot going in, chances are it's going to be hot coming back out.

I'm reminded of when we lived in Dayton. We lived really close to this restaurant called B.C. Rooster's. One of the flavors they had was called "donkey". It was really spicy - in fact, it was about the hottest we could handle.

It wasn't until we sat down to eat the blazin' ones that I understood what was potentially meant by the term "donkey" (think of synonyms).

So, we opted for a bit of - dare I say - "fun" self-punishment.

Update: It's been several hours, and I've been "punished" again, if you know what I mean.

The snow from two days ago has been melting. It reminds us of Narnia, from the movie "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". Aslan must be coming, lol! ;)

Anyhow, I just heard the tech tip on podcast411, in which Apple has posted a page with some tips for podcast lovers.

Snow on the First Full Day of Spring 2006

Mood: good
Listening to: traffic, weather and more on WMOJ Mojo 94.9 FM Cincinnati
Reading: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ("The Writing on the Wall")
Eating: Krispy Kreme Donuts, black Folgers coffee
Watching: snow coming down outside our apartment building

The calendar says it's spring, but outside we've had a blast of cold weather, including snow and ice.

The radio reports that my route to work in Dayton, at least in the Cincinnati area, has an accident. Don't know about the Dayton area. I'm thinking of making the trek anyway.

Keisha's school is on a 2-hour delay, so I'm not that eager to leave just yet. But I need to. Soon. I might take a picture and post it here later.

Back from Columbus

Mood: tired
Listening to: 11 o'clock news
Eating: Frisch's Big Boy
Watching: Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy

We're back home, but we're all tired. Except Zoe, maybe, since she had the apartment to herself this weekend.

This afternoon, I lay down on the bed, browsing this book, and, before I knew it, I was asleep.

Jennie and Keisha have nodded off too.

Gotta finish loading up the iRiver for the morning, and I'm off to bed myself.

P.S. Got a lot of audio to go through. Hopefully it will be good enough to put on the podcast.

JIMM 40 - The Feel Good Show

It's up there for you to listen! Blogger has been having some problems with publishing over the past day, so I'm not sure how the feed is being updated or if it'll be updated correctly.

I may have to check back after a little while.

Update: It appears to have worked. My subscription with the Juice receiver was able to download the show successfully.

Navigating Your Child's Future

Jennie, Keisha, and I will be attending the Navigating Your Child's Future conference this coming weekend.

Jennie and I attended one of these a few years ago. It will be interesting to get a little bit of audio from this and share it with Journey Inside My Mind listeners. Maybe a soundseeing tour or some interviews or something like that.

Keisha is jazzed about going to Columbus and spending a couple of nights in a hotel.

Rainy, Busy Saturday

Mood: focused
Listening to: tea kettle
Eating: Everything bagel, plain cream cheese, black coffee from Panera this morning
Weather: Now-Thunderstorm, 46 F; later- Thunderstorm, 64 F; tonight-Thunderstorm, 56 F

Today looks to be pretty busy:

1. We are giving the lesson for tomorrow's children's ministry class, which involves some preparation.
2. It's our turn to watch kids tonight for our dating co-op. We'll be having as many as 6 kids in our apartment, so we need to get the place straightened up and have something for them to do.
3. Jennie worked last night and will be working again tonight, so the big priority for her is to sleep today.
4. We have oodles and oodles of laundry to do. On second thought, maybe just one oodles.
5. I'd like to finish the podcast for this week, but it may turn out that it's not possible today. This has to take less priority over the other stuff.

Podcast Search Engine!

Can't remember something I said on a podcast? Well, I have news for you:

You can search the audio from past episodes via Podzinger.

Podzinger is a podcast search engine that lets you search for things on podcasts just as you would search anything else on the internet.

I submitted my request to be listed some time ago, and, while searching through my GMail, I found the message that contained the link to search the Journey Inside My Mind Podcast.

I'll have to add that to the podcast page and mention it on the show.

Recovering from Lumbar Injection

Mood: uncomfortable
Listening to: podcasts - attracted by the Theatre of the Mind
Eating: had Chinese restaurant buffet food for lunch
Watching: misc cable shows tonight

I had the lumbar injection experience this morning. I'm feeling very sore in my back, mostly from the injections (plural). Trying to relax and rest.

It was in general a good experience. I loved how the different people who interacted with me said their names, even though I hardly remember any of them.

I'll try to make a point of mentioning this on the podcast this week. Maybe I'll record something on the iRiver.

Update: I've recorded and posted a podcast: JIMM 38 - The Lumbar Injection

Lumbar Injection Today

Mood: slightly anxious
Listening to: Late Show with David Letterman, PodCheck Review
Reading: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, with Keisha
Eating: just finished some garlic bologna
Watching: myself fall asleep

This morning at 9:30 AM we will arrive at the clinic. At 10:30 AM the doctor will administer a lumbar injection of a steroid. I will be asleep for the procedure, thankfully.

It will take place in a room with an x-ray machine, so that the doctor will be able to accurately see what he's doing.

I've been told to stop eating at midnight, and I've been off anti-inflammatory medicine since Sunday.

I won't be doing any work today.

More to come later.

Back really sore today

Mood: sore
Listening to: nothing really
Reading: Getting ready to read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Eating: maybe going to Applebee's for a date with my wife
Watching: nothing
Weather: Now-Partly Sunny, 42 F, Low tonight 24 F

We went to the library and the park earlier. It's such a sunny day that we wanted to get out of our home. I'm not able to do a whole lot because my back is so sore:

It appears that the problem may be higher up now in my back. I almost long for someone to come and "pop" it back into shape. Ever have someone stand behind you reach around and pop your back? I remember also doing it while laying on the floor.

I'm having a "lumbar injection" next Wednesday, so I have to stop taking the pain medicine after tonight until I've had the procedure. Something about blood thinners, etc.

Also, the driver's seat in our car is reclining on its own, and we can't get it back. That, of course, is terrible for my back. As a result, I'm not driving this weekend, and when I do drive to work on Monday, I'll have at least one pillow behind me to help support.

I was supposed to call the Physical Therapist yesterday to get a referral for a chiropractor, but I dropped the ball and didn't realize until after he'd left for vacation that I'd needed to call him. He'll be gone all this week, so I won't have a session until after he returns.

I'm really trying to have a good attitude about all of this, but it's not easy.

God, help me to have a sense of humor, and please bring relief to my pain. Amen

Strange Answering Machine Message

Mood: perplexed, sort of
Listening to: this strange answering machine message
Reading: just finished Harry Potter and the Socrcer's Stone with Keisha
Eating: nothing yet
Watching: our dog bark at another dog outside
Weather: Now - Overcast, 62 F, which is the high for today; Low tonight - 27 F
