My initial plans for a year-end podcast involved doing a summary of everything I've covered in this blog. But, the more I thought about it,
the more I knew I really wanted to concentrate on the music.
So that's what I did. I played nearly 10 songs on this last podcast of 2005. It's a big download, but you can feel free to use the Pupu player instead.

I love being a storyteller, especially for my daughter:
Over the past few weeks, for her bedtime story, I've been reading in the Bible about the events leading up to Jesus being born.
It's really neat to see how Keisha has put the words and events we're reading about together with the words of popular Christmas carols. One of those "aha" moments.
So tonight we ready about the shepherds watching in their fields, and how, after they'd seen Jesus, they went and told everyone else about him.
That's a good enough example of evangelism for me. Even with a holiday flavor.
Let's go tell it on the mountain. Let's shout it from the rooftops. Let's make everyone aware that Jesus Christ is born!

I completely forgot that I had my first dental cleaning appt at 4:10 this afternoon: I remembered it this morning, but my, how time has flown! They just called to mention that to me, and I'm on the line now to try to reschedule it.

Eggs on our windows!
I do not believe this. Someone just threw at least three eggs at our apartment building because our living room windows have the ooze all over them.
I was laying on the couch, channel-surfing, when all of a sudden I heard BAM! BAM! BAM!
I got up to see what it was.
I'm half-tempted to go outside and try to track whoever did this down. This all happened at 10:15 PM.
11 PM Update: I just spoke with the police officer who came here. He saw the egg on the windows, etc. He said that it's really the complex's responsibility to call a police report in, since they will have to take care of the damage. Especially since it's to the windows. They aren't broken, they just got egg mess on them.
I and our neighbor in the same building have tried the maintenance number, but it appears they are having problems with their line because the phone company's not making the connection.
The officer said they've gotten three other phone calls tonight about eggings. They have some suspect descriptions, too.
That's why I'm glad I called. And I'm glad I'm blogging about this.

A ripoff to warn your military friends about:Many of America’s soldiers and sailors have been ripped off by investment salespeople who are allowed onto military posts and bases. The soldiers are usually quite young and are brought into sessions with officers and these salespeople. The soldiers are then coerced into investing in mutual funds that have 50 percent commissions. It has become a big story in Washington, but some of our troops still don’t know about it. The GAO (Government Accounting Office) has just written a report about what a ripoff these plans are. Some people in the Senate say they will outlaw these people coming on bases. But in the meantime, we’re letting our servicemen and women get ripped off. These are unholy alliances between officers and the salespeople, and it’s shameful. If you have a relative or friend in the military, be sure to warn that person about these vultures. Military folks have access to a TSP (Thrift Savings Plan), which has very low costs and no commissions. It’s the kind of investment our soldiers need.

Extra thanks to whoever sent me the one about roach eggs in the glue on envelopes cause I now have to go get a wet towel every time I need to seal an envelope.
Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.
I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put "Under God" on their cans.
I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a sharp point infected with AIDS.
I no longer go to shopping malls because someone might drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.
I no longer eat KFC because their "chickens" are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.
I no longer have to buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe.
I no longer worry about my soul because at last count I have 363,214 angels looking out for me.
Thanks to you, I have learned that God only answers my prayers if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.
I no longer have any money at all - but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special email program.
Yes, I want to thank you so much for looking out for me that I will now return the favor!
If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 7 minutes, a large pigeon with a wicked case of diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 PM (CDT) tomorrow. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician.

The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act and the Right to Learn

We've been having meetings recently to update Keisha's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to accomodate her hearing and speech needs, and one of the members of the IEP team encouraged me to research the Amy Rowley case on the internet.
I won't go into the details of what I've found here because others have done so well. I have added a few bookmarks to my del.icio.us collection, so feel free to browse over there.

I found the NyQuil
After a long bout of painful chest coughing up phelgm (I know, doesn't that just sound so good?), I discovered we had some generic NyQuil.
I took some, and it felt so good going down. My throat had gotten irritated from all the heavy coughing, you see.
I'm going to load up the iRiver with some nightly tunes and head back to bed.
I do feel it my duty to inform you that I caught Zoe the cat on the dinner table a few minutes ago. I was laying in bed, trying to go back to sleep when I heard some meowing, as though Zoe was outside or stuck or something.
I decided to get up to see if maybe she needed water. As I got into the dining room, I saw her near some leftover marshmallow snacks Keisha had left out. One word from my mouth and Zoe was gone, probably under our bed no doubt.
I felt very close to giving her a good reason to meow by putting her outside. Fortunately, I'm too tired and don't really care that much about it now to do anything.
I threw the leftover snacks away and leaned the dining table chairs up against the table so that she'd have more difficulty getting up there if she wanted to again.
Having the iRiver will help me not be distracted by any meowings, too.

throat hurts. chest hurts, top of head hurts. head and chest hurt when i cough. stuffy head. malaise.
even worse: my grammar and spelling are offf. That's how I know that i'm really feeling badd.
I've taken some pain reliever, valerian root, st john's wort, gingko biloba, and I've applied some vapor rub to my chest, neck, and under my nose.
I have a Halls mentholyptus in my mouth.
Earlier I was throwing up phlegm. It's not been a great weekend physically.
Glad I took a shower earlier, and it felt good for a little while.
Gonna head off to bed for the night.

Did you catch that? I'm supposed to keep myself fluidized, and I hadn't eaten in awhile. Jennie called about 20 minutes ago and urged me to eat something and make some tea:
So I got the hot water going and poured about an ounce or so of Maker's Mark whiskey (I know it's a bad way to use such a good product, but it's my sickness, so I'll deal with it just fine). We had some crystallized lemon and some Xylitol, which I added to the mixture, once the hot water had been poured and the tea bag was steeping.
While waiting for tea kettle to heat up, I peeled myself and orange and ate it. Mmm. Good.
Then I made myself a sandwich with Jif peanut butter, because choosy-dudes-with-chest-colds-who-are-hungry choose Jif. Okay, it was the only peanut butter we had around.
(sips Hot Toddy)
Mmmm... nice and warm going down.
By the way, I haven't been outside since the Santa sighting, which was a day and a half ago.

Jennie just took my temperature again, after making me eat peanut butter sandwich and some ramen noodle soup.
It was 99.3.
I've been in bed so long today that I'm almost tired of being in bed. Does that make any sense?
Oh yeah. There was tea involved, too. I put this lemon stuff in it, but it didn't dissolve and was rather nasty when I drank the last of the tea.

After taking the Extra Strength Tylenol, I went back to bed and began sweating up a storm. I wound up having to take off the wool sweatshirt and the sweatpants I'd been wearing.
Jennie woke me up to get me to eat something, and we took my temperature. This time it was down to 98.2 F, which is normal.

Not just because schools were closed today, but more because I have a stuffy head and feel lethargic and ache, I've stayed home today from work:
I also would have had to clear the snow and ice off our car and brave the roadways from Colerain Township to Vandalia, Ohio.
Shortly after I called work, I went back to bed. Then next thing I know, it's 2:30. Now it's after 3. Sure, I probably needed the sleep, but man - that's along time.
I havent' eaten anything, and I feel mildly hungry. The stuffiness in my head is still present, and I've got a persistent cough.
Been taking some heavy doses of Vitamin C. Also took some Selenium, Garlic, green tea, multivitamin.
The problem is that I can only stay in bed for so long. Gravity starts pulling on my body, and it's begun to ache. One can only turn/change position for so long.
I'm not usually cold in our apartment, but I'm freezing right now, even with sweatpants and a wool sweatshirt. Jennie says it is cold in our apartment, though.
She's put some hot water on for some soup, which will be good.

Santa came to visit tonight:
You know how the song goes - he sees you when you're sleeping; he knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake.
I think it may have had a different effect on Keisha, though. 
She's a little bit scared, especially after seeing Santa straighten her blanket.
Nevertheless, Santa was in our neighborhood.

Meryl, who maintaians the Bionic Ear Blog - adventures of a person who is deaf, reports on a music player for Windows Mobile devices tha t displays lyrics while the song plays.
Have a daughter who is hard of hearing, we have come to rely on things like subtitles and closed captioning as we watch TV and DVDs.
I was just thinking how this might work for podcasts. The big challenge, of course, is to get a transcription of what each podcaster says. The work involved seems like too much to do right now. Anyhow we have show notes for that.
